What changed

  • **Files: browse and edit your servers without the terminal.** A new Files tab opens any Linux server as a file tree, over the SSH access you already use. Nothing to install on the server.
  • A real editor: syntax highlighting, line numbers, find and replace, word wrap and the usual shortcuts. No more nano.
  • Several files open at once, as tabs.
  • Every save keeps the previous version, and the file keeps its own permissions, encoding and line endings.
  • Saving stops if the file changed on the server while you had it open.
  • Files owned by root, www-data or tomcat keep their owner when you save them.
  • Search a folder or the whole server for a filename or a line of text.
  • New file, new folder, rename, copy, move, download and delete, from the right-click menu. Copy and move work between two servers. Deletes are reversible.

After installing

Three things, then ask it something real

  1. Create an account and sign in

    300 free credits are granted on signup. Enough to investigate a problem or diagnose an issue before you spend anything.

  2. Add a server

    Host, user and the SSH key you already use. Test Connection detects the operating system and which interpreters are available there.

  3. Ask about something that is actually broken

    Not a hello. The container that keeps restarting, or the build that will not start. That is the fastest way to find out whether it earns its place.
